How Facebook became a $100 billion company
Facebook's transition from a germ of an idea in Harvard University's sophomore Mark Zuckerberg head to one of the biggest tech companies in the world may not be fully chronicled. we present Facebook's milestone and tell how the tech upstart became a $100 billion company in eight short years.
February 2004: Mark Zuckerberg launches Facebook. A Social network exclusively for Harvard University.
September 2004: Facebook launches the wall, one of its most exciting and popular features, which allows users to post happenings on their profile pages.
September 2006: Facebook opens to the public and and begins letting anyone older than 13 join. Earlier it was restricted to colleges, school and companies. Also introduce news feed, which collects all the feeds of user postings in one place.
May 2007: The second big initiative that propels Facebook into the big league; it launches platform, which allows programmers to build Apps. Facebook explodes with a thousands and thousands of small Apps that include games, quizzes and music.
October 2007: Microsoft comes calling woth a $240 million investment for a 1.6 percent stake valuing Facebook at an astonishing $15 billion.
November 2007: Facebook falters for the first time when it introduces its advertising program beacon, a feature that Broadcast user activities from external websites on Facebook. It lead to huge backlash forcing Facebook to withdraw the initiative immediately.
March 2008: Facebook hires sherly Sandberg as chief operating officer from rival company Google. In hindsight this is one of the best decisions that Zuckerberg made helping his company scale from hot tech startup to serious corporate heavyweight.
February 2009: Facebook introduces its like feature. One of the most used feature on the social network, it brings user preferences into everything that they consume on the site
June 2009: Facebook beats Myspace to become the king of the social networking world.
September 2011: Always innovating even when there is user resistance, Facebook introduces the Timeline, which is new version of the user profile page.
February 2012: Facebook ends months of speculation by filling for an initial public offering.
April 2012: Facebook snaps up photo App company instagram for $1billion.

I think many of you don't have a clear idea about interview,what questions they ask,how the process goes,how we should behave........,even after preparation we are still in a state of confusion.Preparation does not matters,how we presented us in a span of that time remains......
Here i am sharing one of my friend experience in interview held by TCS in my college.It helps you......
My HR went on something like this. Hope it would help you further.(it was for 25 minutes..)
Me: excuse me sir,may I come in?
Hr: yes veena,pleas come in.
Me: goodevening sir(time:4:00 sharp.)
Hr: goodafternoon.pleas take ur seat.(hope he dint listen wat I said..and dont find fault with what he said.)
Me: thanku sir.
Hr: what are u expecting the 1st qn would be?
Me: is it tell me about urself?
Hr: no.
Me: anything abt tcs?(have some question expression on ur face)
Hr: no
Me: sorry sir,im up.!
Hr: okay u gave up at 2nd attempt.okay..u know that US is under severe economic crisis.why do u think it has happened?
Me: I hav no much info abt that sir.(so that even if ur wrong..u're at safe zone..giving idea that ur trying to tell what u know atleast..!) but upto my knowledge, US people take loans frm banks and spend lavishly.once they lost IT sector banks went empty and economy went down.
Hr: They do repay the loans. Why r banks empty?
Me: when max of people lost their jobs frm IT sector,very negligible %of people repay loans.how could it balance economy of whole country?(logical anser)
Hr: that fine. How is it gonna effect Indian IT industry?
Me: ours are MNC’s i.e they are having custmers frm all parts of world.US is just a very minute part of it.For example if we come to case of tcs,it is having 142 branches in 42 countries.roughly it may hav 4-5 in US.it would have a very less impact on TCS .(tried to give info abt i know smtng abt TCS and also bringing him into topic which i know)
Hr: what would be ur anser if 60% of TCS revenue is frm US projects?
Me: as we are already aware of the economic downfall..we would definitely search for preventive measures to maintain our business as It is. when we know that we're gonna get effected how would we remain unbothered sir..!
Hr: did u know some ***financial company suddenly hav fallen and closed in 2008?
Me: sir,I actually have no idea on IT sector sir.(avoid negative statemnts like i dont know)
Hr: tellme ur reading habits.like newspaper?(abrupt topic change)
Me: I prefer news in tv.(spontaneous n safe anser.else he might ask u newspaper headlines)
Hr: okay,when that ***financial company has fallen TCS revenue has fallen 7-10%(again bak to topic as he cant question anything frm my watching news in t.v)
Me: dats what I’ve told u earlier sir.complete or drastic % might not fall due to recision.( )
Hr: why this recision came suddenly? (I donno anser..but I managed)
Me: sir,any cause will not have sudden effect.
for example.. "global warming havn’t started now.but we are facing sever effects like melting of icecaps now."
same with recision.(he has no more qn on it for me now.)
Hr: u are a EEE graduade. how can I hire u for IT sector.(abrupt topic change)
Me: I might be a EEE person. but I’ve learnt languages c&ds in 1st year and TCS is providing windfarm management solutions frm branch in Switzerland and many other verticals..so I can have a growth in that sector if company permits...else I would continue in IT sector.
(have complete knowledge on what company is providing related to ur domain)
Hr: after giving u the job,how am I assured that u wont leave this job and go to ur core?
Me: attending this interview is my own intrest.so I wont leave the job.
Hr: what if ur mind changes:
Me: I have absolute control of my thoughts.so it wont change.(be confident)
Hr: have u been away from home anytime?
Me: no sir.
Hr: after I give u a job..how will u be adaptable there?coz..till now ur parents could have taken care of u.like food..etc
(he’s slowly skipping to my hobbies..cooking and traveling)
Me: sir I know how to cook.i have money once I get job.what more I need.!!
Hr: u gotta know buying vegetables etc..right..!
Me: everytime I go to vegetable market with my mom..so..i know what are best.
Hr: u’ve stayed in ur hometown til nw.hw can u adjust to other areas?(indirect qn abt my hobbies)
Me:sir,I njoy tours in every vacation of mine.so I can(b4 I finish anser he qnd where did u go recently)
Me: to bandhipur tiger reserve at tamilnadu border.
Hr:where is ***reserve
Me:I have no idea sir(avoid negative statements like I don’t know)
Hr:when u go to a resrve, ul know what are other ones right..!
Me:sir I plan my travel calculating the distance,time etc sir..i don’t decide which is best..in nature everything is best.
Hr:how many states and union territories are there in India?(abrupt topic change.i was shockd. bt no expression change on my face)
Me: 28states and 7 union territories sir
Hr: temme the names of 7 union territories.
Me:Andaman n nicobar..lakshadweep..chandiga
rh(ooppss…that’s a capital..)

(im vexed completely by this time..stupid qns..i cant even get remaining ilands)

(he tested my patience like anything. before me, the interview time was jus 3 r 4 min..but for me it was 25 min..i was mentally prepared that it would be 3 r 4 min for me too..but it was controverse. anything can happen in interviews.
Finally the results were out,i am one among the 65 selected from my college......
after my interview,. the qn paper was frm my ansers..!!
